What if we held a retreat with no speakers?

We could each spend time thinking and planning.

We could choose to talk with someone when it would help, or be quiet and focus, or some of each.

We could spend a day, or two, on the things we just don't get to, otherwise.

We could do all of this away from home, away from distraction, and with each other for company.

October 3-5, 2008 (with pre-conference open day on Thursday Oct. 2)

Quartz Mountain Resort

high speed internet in guest rooms, wifi in lobby, wifi in meeting rooms
2.5 hour drive from OKC
Private shuttle services go to Quartz Mountain. Approx. $275 for a full van load of folks, one way.
Rentals are also an option for the adventurous.

Help each other strategize
Sometimes, an hour spent with a helpful friend can move you further forward than hours of work on your own.
Flip chart for accountability - so people can post a goal for the weekend.
Flip chart for help - so people can ask for help with a specific area

Questions

How is this different from an unconference?
No sessions. No schedule. No topics. This is a chance to show up and work on what you want to work on. It's more of a retreat than a conference. Picture a bunch of us with laptops, whiteboards, paper, pencils, and markers, working on our own or in small groups to focus on whatever topic we choose.
OK, not really NO schedule, because we'll have a time for meals, etc.

Branstorming, planning, strategizing, helping, writing, building, proofing. Whatever we need assistance on with the talent onsite.

all the dates look good at this point, but will have to wait on kids' school schedules for concerts/sports, etc. before I could confirm. Not sure that OK will work for me. Selfishly was looking for something closer to home. :) (Cheryl)
